Piers Morgan, Rudy Giuliani in furious debate over Trump: ‘You sound completely barking mad’

Piers Morgan and Rudy Giuliani engaged in a heated shouting match early Thursday over President Trump’s rhetoric following the death of George Floyd, with the British talk-show host accusing the former New York City mayor of sounding “completely barking mad” in his defense of Trump.

“I’m up here at 1 o’clock in the morning to answer your questions,” Giuliani said in a remote interview on ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” from New York. “You have a completely warped picture of what happened, which is not atypical. This is what is constantly being done to President Trump by the left-wing media. [Trump] has handled this really superbly.”

After Morgan took issue with a tweet last week in which Trump said after looting, arson and violent protests that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” Giuliani fired back.

“You know that too. You’re going through politically correct propaganda to be popular,” Giuliani said.

“The moment Trump said ‘when the looting starts, the shooting starts’ … from the moment he said that, there’s been total carnage in the streets of America,” Morgan, a former CNN prime-time host and onetime supporter of Trump, retorted.

Giuliani, who serves as Trump’s personal attorney, defended the president’s comments, saying: “It’s an accurate warning. If you continue to loot, you’re going to bring about violence!”

After the two accused each other of talking over the other, Morgan went after Giuliani personally.

“What happened to you, Rudy? You used to be one of the most revered people in America, if not the world,” Morgan said.

“Who wants to listen to you, Piers? You can say anything you want, because I have no respect for you. A man you know, you know is not a racist,” a hoarse Giuliani yelled, referring to Trump before later adding, “I happen to believe in truth and justice.”

“You’ve gone completely mad and you sound deranged, you’re abusive and it’s really sad to see what has happened to you,” Morgan, a former “Apprentice” contestant, said. “You’ve lost the plot.”

“Everyone in America knows you’re a failed journalist,” Giuliani said after more crosstalk. “I know what happened to your show, Piers, and I remember the mistakes you made, and I remember that you f—ed up.”

Morgan and co-host Susanna Reid apologized to viewers for the profanity on the morning program.

More than 10,000 people have been arrested since protests over Floyd’s death while in Minneapolis police custody erupted more than a week ago in the U.S. Four officers involved in the incident have been charged.
