Hannity to interview Roger Stone on Monday

Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity will interview Roger Stone on Monday evening, marking the first television interview by President Trump’s longtime adviser since having his prison sentence commuted on Friday.

Stone, 67, was convicted earlier this year on seven counts of lying to Congress and the FBI and of witness tampering, leading to a 40-month sentence. The GOP operative and Trump confidant was scheduled to report to prison on Tuesday before the president commuted his sentence late last week.

“During his first television interview since Trump granted him clemency, Stone will react to the news as well as offer his thoughts on former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s recent defense of his indictment,” Fox News said in a statement Monday.

Mueller, who led a 22-month investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, penned an op-ed in The Washington Post on Saturday saying Stone “remains a convicted felon, and rightly so.”

“We made every decision in Stone’s case, as in all our cases, based solely on the facts and the law and in accordance with the rule of law,” Mueller wrote. “The women and men who conducted these investigations and prosecutions acted with the highest integrity. Claims to the contrary are false.”

The Russia investigation, which Trump has routinely called a “hoax,” did not conclude that Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to interfere in the 2016 election but detailed a series of contacts and found the campaign welcomed Russia’s efforts. Stone was the last of six Trump associates to be charged in connection with Mueller’s investigation.

Stone recently told Axios that he plans to campaign for Trump this year.
