Conservative radio host fired over video scolding landscape workers for speaking Spanish

A conservative radio host in New Hampshire was fired after livestreaming herself on Facebook verbally accosting landscapers who were speaking Spanish while asking if they were legally in the country.

“It’s America. You should be speaking English,” says Dianna Ploss, then-host of “The Dianna Ploss Show” on WSMN-1590, while filming herself talking to landscaping workers. “Is anybody here illegal? Are these guys illegal?”

After being asked by an African American man why she was harassing the crew, Ploss responded by saying during the recording, “He’s a Black man, and he’s going to protect the brown man from this white woman who’s practicing white privilege because she happened to walk by and heard this guy talking to all of these guys doing this work in Spanish.”

“We at WSMN value freedom of speech, freedom of expression and assembly. We will not tolerate discrimination, racism or hatred,” the radio station, which is based in Nashua, said in a statement. “We continue to present and offer on air opportunities for discussion, education and the exchange of opinions and ideas.”

The station added that Ploss is “no longer associated or affiliated in any way with WSMN or Bartis-Russell Broadcasting, LLC.”

Ploss fired back in a Facebook post on Monday night that included her standing in front of a cardboard cutout of President Trump with a sign reading “MA 4 Trump 2020.”

“You have not silenced Dianna Ploss. I am not going away,” she said while standing in front of a cutout of President Donald Trump and a poster that read “MA 4 TRUMP 2020.”

“So, if you want people in America to speak English, that makes you a racist,” she said, adding that she was not “backing down.”

Nearly 11,000 people signed a petition calling on Ploss to be fired from WSMN after the video of her harassing the landscapers went viral.
