Fox’s Perino says Biden won’t pick Susan Rice because of fire from right
Fox News’s Dana Perino predicted Joe Biden won’t pick Susan Rice as his running mate because it would give something for the right to seize upon, and suggested the former Obama national security adviser might be better as a White House chief of staff.
“I will say that I do not believe that Susan Rice, who was President Obama’s national security adviser and is rumored to be on this list, I do not think she is going to be the choice,” Perino, who served as White House press secretary in President George W. Bush’s administration, said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday.
“I think it would be a bad choice for him, I think the right would love nothing more than to have Susan Rice be the choice. She’s never campaigned,” she added.
“You have to have somebody who is going to be willing to go after President Trump and thrash his record,” Perino said, before turning to Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who are both seen as contenders.
“Somebody like Kamala Harris has shown she can do that. Look at Tammy Duckworth from Illinois. She wants to fight. She’s scrappy. I think Susan Rice is not going to have this. So my prediction is it will not be Susan Rice,” Perino said.
“She might make a great chief of staff. I don’t think she would be a great vice presidential pick for Joe Biden,” Perino, anchor of “The Daily Briefing” and co-host of “The Five” concluded.
Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) are seen as other top candidates to be Biden’s running mate.
