Biden, Harris grant first joint TV interview to ABC’s Muir, Roberts

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), his running mate, will give their first joint television interview to ABC “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir next Sunday as part of an hour-long special “on their history-making ticket,” the network announced.

The special will also include what ABC dubs “a conversation” with “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts.

The decision is a departure from 2016, when CBS’s “60 Minutes” landed the first interviews with Hillary Clinton and Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.) on the Democratic side and President Trump and then-Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on the Republican side.

Muir’s “World News Tonight” just extended its winning streak to 10 straight weeks as the most-watched evening newscast on broadcast television in the U.S., according to Nielsen Media Research.

ABC had an average of 8.44 million total viewers for the week of Aug. 3-7, topping “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” which delivered 7.46 million viewers. CBS finished third with 5.26 million viewers for “The CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell.”

In July, “World News Tonight” was the most-watched show in all of broadcast and cable television on 18 nights, according to Nielsen.
