Ex-Fox News anchor Shepard Smith will debut his new program on CNBC on Sept. 30, the network has announced.
“The News with Shepard Smith” will air in prime time at 7 p.m., with repeats at midnight and at 4 a.m.
Smith joined CNBC in July after working for 23 years at Fox. Smith first joined Fox News in 1996 as one of its original hires in covering major breaking stories. He left in October.
“In my more than 30 years in journalism, there has never been a better or more critical time to launch a non-partisan, fact-based evening newscast,” Smith said in a statement on Monday. “From the ongoing pandemic to the election and the economy, the mission of this program is to cover the most important news of the day with depth and clarity. Each night, we will be bold, we will be direct and we will deliver the truth to our viewers.”
During the Trump era, Smith has repeatedly drawn the ire of the president after pushing back on various remarks.
Smith, 56, was named CNBC’s chief general news anchor and chief breaking general news anchor as well as executive editor of his own program.
