Fox host says the media is easier on Biden than Trump

Fox Business host Neil Cavuto said Friday following Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s press conference that the former vice president has a “far more friendly relationship” with the press than President Trump.

“Man oh man, there was a lot in there whether you like the former vice president or dislike him … these were decidedly friendlier questions than the president ever enjoys,” Cavuto said.

Last August, Cavuto addressed Trump’s criticism of Fox News, saying, “I think he is getting sick of Fox. Which is weird because I think he gets pretty fair coverage at Fox.”

Cavuto said on Friday, “The president’s no fan of mine, a lot of his backers are no fan of mine, but I do think … the press is very different with Joe Biden, it just is,” later adding, “the press should be tough on everybody.”

On Friday, Biden was grilled by the press over whether he had taken a COVID-19 test, to which he confirmed he had been tested for the virus, adding that he would be tested “on a regular basis.”

Biden has been criticized by both parties for his apparent lack of face time with the press.

“If you’re not going to be out on the trail, you should be doing interviews every single day,” said one Democratic strategist.

Democratic strategist Jessica Tarlov acknowledged Cavuto’s remarks Friday, saying, “I’m not going to deny the stark contrast you saw in the line of questioning,” adding that Biden still has a chance to quash criticisms of his apparent press bias with the election two months away.

Cavuto said journalists interviewing Biden should also hammer down on Biden’s response to the pandemic the same way they handle Trump’s response.

He added that journalists interviewing Biden should point out the vice president “was having crowded campaign rallies in March” before the pandemic crisis struck the U.S.
