President Trump on Thursday praised several Fox News personalities, citing them as a primary source of information for him regarding the Justice Department investigation into the origins of the probe into his 2016 campaign.
“I watch some of the shows. I watched Liz McDonald — she is fantastic. I watched Fox Business. I watched Lou Dobbs last night, Sean Hannity last night, Tucker [Carlson] last night, Laura [Ingraham]. I watched ‘Fox and Friends’ in the morning,” Trump told reporters during a press briefing Thursday.
“You watch these shows, you don’t have to go too far into the details … it’s really any amazing thing, they got caught in the biggest political scandal in the history of our country,” the president added.
The president has frequently accused key figures in the Obama administration of a far-reaching conspiracy he refers to as “Obamagate.” Asked in May what actual crimes he believes his predecessor may have committed, Trump declined to answer, only telling reporters “the crime is very obvious to everybody.”
There is no evidence either Obama or then-Vice President Joe Biden committed any crimes in connection with the investigation of the Trump campaign. Attorney General William Barr expressed doubt the same month that U.S. Attorney John Durham would criminally investigate either Obama or Biden.
