Eric Trump uses misleading clip to blast Biden for using teleprompter
President Trump’s son Eric Trump tweeted a misleading clip claiming Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden was using a teleprompter during a Telemundo interview.
The younger Trump tweeted a clip of Biden responding to a question while looking at a screen, then saying, “Oh, I lost that line.” The video has text claiming Biden was “caught red-handed using a teleprompter.”
In reality, Biden was responding to questions from Telemundo viewers that were on a monitor.

A Telemundo spokesperson told The Hill that allegations of Biden using a teleprompter during the interview are “absolutely false.”
“Noticias Telemundo has never allowed someone who is being interviewed on its news programs to read answers from a teleprompter which would be a clear violation of its editorial policies and standards,” they said.
Eric Trump’s tweet comes as the Trump campaign has sought to question Biden’s cognitive capabilities, accusing him without evidence of using a teleprompter for pre-planned interview questions.
President Trump and his campaign have tweeted misleading and doctored videos in the past. Several of those tweets have been flagged by Twitter, including those in which the president mischaracterized information about mail-in voting or the coronavirus pandemic.
These attacks come a week before Trump and Biden will debate in Cleveland on Sept. 29.
Trump has also mocked the Biden campaign’s adherence to social distancing guidance from public health officials as the Trump campaign continues to hold large in-person rallies.
