Fox’s Cavuto: Trump-Biden legal battles ‘could be six times that’ of 2000 election

Fox Business anchor Neil Cavuto said early Wednesday that possible legal battles in several key battleground states between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden will dwarf what the country experienced during the disputed 2000 presidential election, adding that “it could be six times that with six states.”

The perspective comes with several close races in key 2020 battleground states, including Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

“What we are waiting for is Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes, Michigan with 16, North Carolina with 15, Georgia with 16. And that’s where the votes are and that’s where and how you get to 270 [electoral votes],” Cavuto explained.

“But the markets that were sort of streaming along and the idea the race was looking good for Republicans, I always add that these guys just would prefer those kinds of policies than Democrat ones, not everyone, but by and large the markets were ebbing and flowing with the prospects for Donald Trump tonight,” he added. “And the better that looked, the better they looked.”

Cavuto broached the 2000 recount of votes in Florida in the race between George W. Bush and Al Gore, which lasted for weeks. The winner of the state and election was not decided until Dec. 12 of that year after a 5–4 Supreme Court decision in favor of Bush.

“Put it this way, it could be six times that with six states,” Cavuto said on Wednesday. “I don’t think I am exaggerating much … we are looking at six states that are being asked alright stop this, stop the count right now. Which is kind of what the president was saying which was adding to the uncertainty in the futures markets.”

Dow futures were up more than 300 points after Trump captured Florida and Ohio, but were flat as of 5 a.m. EST Wednesday morning.
