Geraldo Rivera floats naming COVID-19 vaccine ‘the Trump’
Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera on Friday floated the idea of naming the COVID-19 vaccine “the Trump,” saying it could dampen the blow of President Trump’s defeat in the presidential election.
Rivera said, “I had an idea … with the world so divided and everyone telling me ‘He’s gotta give up’ and ‘Time to leave’ … why not name the vaccine ‘the Trump’? You know make it like, ‘Have you got your Trump yet?’ “
To soften the blow of defeat Fox’s Geraldo proposes naming the vaccine after Trump. “It would be a nice gesture to him and years from now it would become kind of a generic name. Have you got your trump yet, I got my trump, I’m fine. I wished we could honor him in that way.” pic.twitter.com/fM8qwFhxF6

Rivera’s comments come one week after the president’s Rose Garden speech, where he delivered groundbreaking updates regarding the recent work of Operation Warp Speed, which was started to develop a coronavirus vaccine in record time.
Rivera said he wished the American people could honor Trump by crediting him for the speedy vaccine track “because he is definitely the prime architect of this Operation Warp Speed.”
At a rare White House coronavirus press conference Thursday, the nation’s leading epidemiologist Anthony Fauci called the efficacy of Pfizer’s vaccine “extraordinary,” adding it is almost as effective as a measles shot, a CBS affiliate 4WWL reported.
The Rose Garden announcement was indeed a victory for Trump as the nation has struggled with a pandemic that has killed more than 250,000 Americans.
And while developments on the vaccine front appear positive, COVID-19 cases are surging across the nation, particularly in the Midwest.
The promising vaccine progress comes as Trump maintains his refusal to concede the election to President-elect Joe Biden.
Trump’s campaign continues to push legal battles in several states in the country in an attempt to uncover irregularities he hopes could turn the outcome in his favor.
