Steve Doocy taking new role at ‘Fox & Friends’

Fox News host Steve Doocy will take a new role with the network but remain a co-host of its morning talk program “Fox & Friends,” the network announced Thursday.

Doocy, who has been a staple on the “Fox & Friends” couch for years, will take on a new “coast-to-coast” co-hosting role that will allow him to move to Florida full time.

Doocy, 68, will be based in the Sunshine State and host the show “from locations throughout the southeast, Midwest and beyond that don’t typically get network airtime,” Fox said announcing the move.

“I am not retiring. I’m not leaving the show. I’m still a host, but it’s time for a change,” Doocy told the show’s audience during Thursday morning’s broadcast.

He also noted that he and Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott have been talking about his future at the network and agreed on the new role, which will have him working three days a week.

“Essentially, it’s the Johnny Carson show deal,” Doocy said. “Remember Johnny worked his three days in Burbank, and I will be based in Florida, which means you may never see me in a necktie again.”

Doocy is one of Fox’s longest serving hosts and is the father of Peter Doocy, one of the network’s top White House correspondents.
