Joe Biden tops Google people searches in 2020

President-elect Joe Biden was the No. 1 trending person this year, according to a new report from Google Trends.

In Google’s “Year in Search 2020” report, Biden occupied the top spot among trending people in the U.S., followed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Vice-President elect Kamala Harris.

President Trump was atop the list in 2016 when he won the presidential election. Other individuals who have held the spot in previous years are NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, singer and actress Demi Lovato and former NBC “Today” co-host Matt Lauer.

Kim’s ranking in this year’s list is likely due to heightened international interest when he was not seen in public for several weeks amid rumors he was suffering from potentially fatal health issues.

Among the top searches overall for 2020, “Election results” ranked number one, surpassing “coronavirus” in terms of online interest.
