Tucker Carlson calls CNN’s Amanpour a ‘half-wit’
Fox News host Tucker Carlson called CNN’s Christiane Amanpour a “half-wit” on his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday.
During the episode, Carlson discussed the news that federal investigators are conducting a probe into President-elect Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden and his financial affairs.
Carlson spoke about how social media limited the spread of a controversial New York Post article regarding Hunter Biden’s business dealings and relationship with Ukraine.
Carlson then played an interview from October in which Amanpour clashed with Republican National Committee spokeswoman Liz Harrington about whether there was evidence of corruption in the Biden family.
“ ‘As you know perfectly well, I am a journalist and a reporter,’ says Christiane Amanpour who is neither of those things and never has been,” Carlson said. “Christiane Amanpour is a celebrity script reader, a half-wit whose self-esteem far outpaces her accomplishments.”
Carlson then accused her of being “the personal flack for the Biden family international finance corporation.”
“That’s not in her Twitter bio, but it’s obvious,” he said.
In mid-October, the New York Post released a story that included allegations surrounding Hunter Biden and Ukraine that hinged on an email reportedly retrieved from the hard drive of a laptop that was dropped off at a Delaware repair shop.
The owner of the repair shop is said to have handed over a copy of the hard drive to President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani before it was seized by the FBI.
Both Twitter and Facebook limited the spread of the article on their platforms, with Twitter claiming at the time that the decision was made based on its hacked materials policy.
Questions were raised about the story’s sourcing after it was published.
Carlson claimed Hunter Biden’s announcement about the investigation proved that Harrington was “right all along.”
“The media didn’t tell us, neither did the Justice Department. Hunter Biden has far better connections than say Roger Stone,” Carlson said. “Hunter Biden was allowed to tell his own story. He wasn’t rousted from bed at 5 a.m. by dozens of armed paramilitaries, his arrest in his boxer shorts carried live on CNN.”
Hunter Biden announced Wednesday that he learned he was being investigated by the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware when his lawyer was advised of the probe.
The president-elect’s transition team said that Joe Biden is “deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger.”
