Fox News’s ‘The Greg Gutfeld Show’ shifts to five days a week
Fox News plans to move Saturday’s “The Greg Gutfeld Show” to every weeknight at 11 p.m., the network announced on Wednesday.
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott revealed the network’s weekly comedy-centered late-night talk show will move to weeknights during the start of the second quarter of this year. Gutfeld’s show will be followed by “Fox News @ Night,” which will be pushed back to begin at midnight.
“People need a reason to laugh,” Scott said in a statement.
“With one of the most loyal and engaged audiences in cable news, we’re thrilled to bring the show to weekday primetime and further solidify Greg’s place among late night television stars,” she added.
The change will boost Fox News’s hours of live and original programming to 21 hours per weekday. The network plans to announce a new program to replace “The Greg Gutfeld Show” in the Saturday 10 p.m. time slot “at a later date,” according to a release.
Gutfeld, a self-described libertarian, has hosted the Saturday show since its launch in 2015. In 2020, his show was the weekend’s most-watched program in cable news among viewers aged 25 to 54, with an average of 400,000 viewers in the demographic prized by advertisers.
“This feels like the perfect next step following the amazing success of the weekend show, which is due in large part to a great staff and a management that lets the show follow its own unique path,” Gutfeld said in a statement.
“Every day someone comes up to me to ask when are we going nightly, so now that we are, there will be approximately 3 million people who will claim it’s their idea!” he added.
Gutfeld, who has been with the network since 2007, has co-hosted “The Five,” a panel talk show featuring five commentators, since 2011. The network said Wednesday that he will continue his role on “The Five.”
The announcement on Gutfeld’s show comes a few weeks after Fox News revamped its daytime programming, including replacing its 7 p.m. news hour with an opinion show.
