Paula Reid to join CNN as senior legal affairs correspondent

CBS News White House correspondent Paula Reid will be joining CNN as a senior legal affairs correspondent.

Reid will be based in D.C., a CNN spokesperson told Variety.

She earned a law degree from Villanova University, Variety notes, and has passed the bar exam in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“It’s not every day you get to start your dream job. Let’s do this!” Reid tweeted on Monday responding to an article announcing her move.

She joined CBS News in 2010 and covered the Department of Justice before becoming a White House correspondent in 2019.

Variety reports that speculation regarding Reid’s departure from CBS had begun earlier this year, with the network taking her off the White House beat during a reorganization and not assigning her a defined new role. People close to the matter told Variety that Reid had been offered a beat covering Congress, but she had declined for other opportunities.

“I will miss my wonderful colleagues at @CBSNews & will always be grateful to those who opened doors for me along the way,” Reid tweeted on Friday.
