C-SPAN inks deal with YouTube TV, Hulu
C-SPAN has reached agreements with YouTube TV and Hulu to bring the government access network to the pair of streamers starting this fall.
The three C-SPAN channels will join YouTube TV’s base package lineup this fall, while YouTube TV will also carry the network’s coverage of “America 250” celebrations and invest in the optimization of C-SPAN’s presence on YouTube.
“In addition to the main YouTube platform, we are excited to bring C-SPAN’s unfiltered, unbiased programming to YouTube TV’s growing streaming audience,” C-SPAN CEO Sam Feist said in a statement.
The channel separately announced a deal that will bring its programming to Hulu’s Live TV platform, which the company said will “expand access to C-SPAN’s unfiltered coverage of U.S. government for millions of subscribers nationwide, further strengthening the network’s role as an indispensable source of public affairs programming.”
The public affairs channel, like many other cable channels, is facing declining viewership on linear broadcast television as more consumers cut the cord and turn to streaming services like YouTube TV, Sling and other direct-to-consumer platforms.
