Hannity to interview Caitlyn Jenner following gubernatorial announcement

Fox News host Sean Hannity will interview reality television star and Olympian Caitlyn Jenner in a one-on-one interview next week, according to a Fox News announcement released Thursday.

Hannity will conduct the sit down interview in Malibu and ask Jenner following the announcement of her California gubernatorial run against Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). Hannity is expected to talk with her about her bid as well as COVID-19 restrictions and crime in California.

News that Jenner was thinking about a run for governor spread in early April, though initially, her manager Sophia Hutchins denied the rumors.

Since then, reports have circulated that former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale was advising Jenner about a possible bid.

Former California governor, body builder and action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger has said the idea of Jenner being elected is realistic because “anyone has a chance.”

Jenner’s campaign also drew the attention of both commentators and comedians, with “The View” co-host Joy Behar and HBO’s Bill Maher weighing in on the matter.

Jenner’s announcement in the Golden State’s race comes as Newsom faces a recall effort over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Proponents of the recall effort have pointed to the governor’s school and business closures amid the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., arguing that the closures have had negative effects on students and tanked the economy.

Still, 59 percent of likely voters have approved of his handling of school reopenings, according to a new poll released earlier Thursday. A similar 59 percent said they approve of how the governor is “handling the issue of jobs and the economy,” while 40 percent disapprove.
