Former Fox News anchor Leland Vittert is taking a job at NewsNation, a spokesperson for the new news cable network confirmed Wednesday.
“They came to me late last year talking about their new venture of unbiased, fact-based reporting with an incredible company behind it,” Vittert told Mediaite.
Vittert will report on national affairs at first, the media news outlet noted, but will get his own show sometime later in the year.
Vittert did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.
Fox News confirmed late last month that the network and Vittert, a weekend co-anchor, had parted ways.
“We have mutually and amicably parted ways with Leland Vittert,” a network spokeswoman said via email at the time.
Vittert was among a group of Fox News anchors who in 2019 earned former President Trump’s ire when he tweeted that they should be working at CNN instead.
NewsNation is owned by media company Nexstar. The network, touted as an unbiased alternative to other cable news outlets, began as an evening news show on cable network WGN last September. Nexstar rebranded all of WGN as NewsNation in March.
Earlier in the year, Nexstar lost several senior journalists among employee concerns about increased right-wing bias at NewsNation.
