Donna Brazile leaves Fox, joins ABC as contributor

Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Donna Brazile has left Fox News and joined ABC News as a contributor.

A spokesperson for ABC confirmed to The Hill that Brazile is now a contributor with the network. The Hill has reached out to Fox for comment.

Brazile told The Daily Beast that she decided to return to ABC when her contract expired. She had been with Fox for two years.

“When my contract expired, they offered me an additional 2-4 years,” Brazile told the outlet. “But I decided to return to ABC.”

The Democratic strategist added that “all is good” with her and Fox, noting that she was allowed to make multiple appearances on ABC’s “This Week” over the past two years.

The Daily Beast noted that her debut as an ABC contributor was on last Sunday’s edition of “This Week.”

Brazile joined Fox in March 2019, acknowledging at the time that the decision would garner criticism from progressives. She defended the move back then, saying that some of Fox’s audience doesn’t hear enough from Democrats.

“There’s an audience on FOX News that doesn’t hear enough from Democrats,” Brazil said. “We have to engage that audience and show Americans of every stripe what we stand for rather than retreat into our ‘safe spaces’ where we simply agree with each other. For there is no safety in self-limiting numbers.”

The move to Fox came after CNN severed ties with Brazile in October 2016 for sharing town hall debate questions with former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

News of Brazile’s exit from Fox comes after Juan Williams announced his departure from “The Five” on Wednesday. He will still stay at the network as a contributor.
