Abby Huntsman blames ‘View’ exit on ‘unbearable culture’
Abby Huntsman, a former Fox News anchor who co-hosted “The View” before departing in January 2020, said she left the daytime talk show due to its “unbearable culture.”
In her Thursday podcast episode of “I Wish Somebody Told Me,” Huntsman revealed she exited the show after less than two years because of the environment, USA Today reported.
“I knew the show did not reflect my values, when I say that I mean rewarding people for bad behavior,” Huntsman said. “At that time there were executives in charge and that I did feel that we were kind of players in that game and it was about money and it was about ratings and the tabloids.”
“They wanted me to wait a month and I said ‘I’m out of here Friday,'” she added. “It was just an unbearable culture by the end.”
At the time of her departure, Huntsman said she was going to help her father, Jon Huntsman Jr., with a gubernatorial campaign in Utah, saying it was a “great out” for her.
Huntsman’s admission comes after Meghan McCain, who was also a conservative voice on “The View,” left due to what she called a “toxic” work environment.
McCain said she could no longer deal with the “toxic, direct and purposeful hostility” from her co-hosts.
“Twenty-two incredible women have had a seat on the panel and have worked in collaboration with the dedicated group of professionals on our staff. Abby will always remain a part of The View family and we look forward to continuing the conversation with her when she visits next month,” a spokesperson for “The View” said in a statement to The Hill.
The Hill has reached out to ABC News for comment.
