Cuomo absent from SiriusXM radio show following firing from CNN
Chris Cuomo was absent from his weekday radio show on SiriusXM, two days after being fired by CNN following a scandal involving his effort to help his brother deal with accusations of sexual harassment.
Former ABC News Journalist Brian Ross served as a fill-in host for Cuomo’s radio show on Monday and did not give a reason for Cuomo’s absence.
SiriusXM did not return a request for comment seeking to learn why Cuomo was not hosting Monday’s show. The satellite radio network last week did not return a request for comment on Cuomo’s status with the company given his suspension from CNN at the time.
After being suspended on Tuesday, Cuomo was fired on Saturday afternoon by CNN after the network said it had hired “a respected law firm to conduct the review,” of the anchor’s conduct.
The New York Times reported late Saturday night that an attorney who is also representing a woman who has accused the former governor of misconduct, informed CNN of a different client with an allegation of sexual misconduct against Chris Cuomo.
“When new allegations came to us this week, we took them seriously, and saw no reason to delay taking immediate action,” CNN said on Sunday. A spokesperson for Cuomo has denied the sexual misconduct allegations.
Cuomo’s CNN suspension came following the release of additional documents from the New York State Attorney General’s office as part of its investigation of his brother, the former governor.
The documents revealed Chris Cuomo coordinated with top aides to the governor to find out information about women who were talking to journalists or considering coming forward with accusations against the New York Democrat.
“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother,” Cuomo said after his firing. “So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot. I owe them all and will miss that group of special people who did really important work.”
