Code Pink hunger striker to return to Lieberman’s office

A hunger-striking Code Pink member who fainted in the office of Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) late last month will return to the Hart Senate Office Building Tuesday to resume her protest against Lieberman.

{mosads} Leslie Angeline, a peace activist, began the protest after Lieberman made comments that some, including Angeline, interpreted as supporting a military attack on Iran.

Following a stay at George Washington University Hospital on June 28, Angeline returned home to California to see her family, according to Code Pink spokeswoman Dana Balicki. She maintained her hunger strike and has been consuming only liquids.

She wants the senator to declare publicly that reaching a diplomatic resolution with Iran is his priority. In the past, Angeline left the office after being threatened that the Capitol Police would be called. But now she plans to stay until she either receives the assurance from Lieberman or is removed from his office, according to Code Pink.

Balicki said Angeline is prepared to go to jail for her beliefs.
