Clinton to skip next debate if CBS workers are on strike

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) announced Wednesday that she would not participate in a Democratic National Committee-sanctioned debate in Los Angeles next month if CBS workers decide to go on strike.

{mosads}CBS News writers, who have been without a contract since April 2005, could decide to go on strike soon. If they do and the dispute is not resolved by December 10, the day on which the Los Angeles Democratic debate is scheduled to be held, Clinton indicated that she would not participate.

“I will honor the picket line if the workers at CBS News decide to strike,” the former first lady and current frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination stated.

“America’s unions are the backbone of America’s middle class and I will always stand with America’s working men and women in the fight to ensure that they are able to earn a fair wage,” she added in a move that could help her with organized labor but probably will add to the headaches of CBS executives.
