The Hill’s History-Cast: Supreme Sherpas

Ron Bonjean is one of those famous-for-Washington types, and right now he’s playing a huge role in President Trump’s effort to fill a vacant seat on the Supreme Court with Judge Neil Gorsuch. Ron is what they call a sherpa, and we asked him to tell us about his job.

{mosads}”Sorry, can’t comment on that,” he told us.

Okay, Bonjean isn’t talking. But we called a bunch of other sherpas, people who helped guide nominees through the Senate confirmation process during the Obama administration, to try to understand their roles better — and to understand how confirmation battles got so contentious.
