Multiple people stabbed at Austin university
One person has died after several people were involved in a stabbing at the University of Texas at Austin on Monday, according to multiple reports.
The university’s police department said it took a suspect into custody after two people were stabbed and another was assaulted.
“Unidentified suspect apprehended for stabbing two subjects and assaulting a one other. One of the victims died due to their wounds,” the department wrote on Twitter.
{mosads}Police said there was “no ongoing threat to the campus.”
Austin-Travis County emergency officials told ABC News that three people were taken to a hospital after the stabbing.
“Our prayers go out to all those affected by today’s tragic events,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement.
“I have been briefed by the Department of Public Safety on both incidents, and have also talked to University of Texas at Austin President Greg Fenves. As the investigations into these heinous crimes continue, I have offered all available state resources to both Dallas and the University of Texas to assist in any effort.”
