MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Wednesday asked former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates to run for office.
During an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Scarborough asked Yates: “When are you going to run for something?”
“I’ve never been drawn to the idea of elective office,” Yates said.

Scarborough shot back: “This isn’t about what you want, this is about what America needs. Just remember that.”
Yates said she hopes someday she will have another opportunity for public service.
“Elective office, I’m having a hard time seeing,” she said. “But, we’ll see I suppose.”
The White House fired Yates in January from her role as acting attorney general after she declined to have the Justice Department defend Trump’s initial travel ban.
She joined Georgetown University’s law school this fall as a “Distinguished Lecturer from Government.”
Yates also played a role in the ongoing investigations into potential ties between Trump’s campaign and Russia’s election meddling. She was called to testify earlier this year in front of Congress after she warned the administration that then-national security adviser Michael Flynn could be blackmailed by the Russians.
