Ivana Trump in a new interview said first lady Melania Trump “went bananas” after Ivana Trump joked about being “first lady.”
Ivana Trump was asked on an Irish radio program about her comments when she joked she was “first lady.”
“I said, ‘I’m first Trump lady. I’m first Trump lady,’ and first lady went bananas over it,” she told “The Ray D’Arcy Show.”
{mosads}”I have no idea why. I don’t know how it sparkled, but I am definitely first Trump lady.”
Ivana Trump was married to President Trump, with whom she had three children, from 1977 to 1992.
“And I have no idea why she resents it,” Ivana Trump added. “So leave it at that, who cares?”
She was also asked whether she thinks Melania Trump is doing a good job as first lady.
“I think she’s trying her best,” she said.
During an interview last month on “Good Morning America,” Ivana Trump joked about being first lady.
“I have the direct number to White House, but I no really want to call him there because Melania is there,” she said. “I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that because I’m basically first Trump wife.”
“I’m first lady, OK?” she said, laughing.
A spokeswoman for Melania Trump hit back, saying Ivana Trump’s comments were “self-serving noise.”
“She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books,” the spokeswoman said in a statement. “There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. Unfortunately only attention seeking and self-serving noise.”
