Law enforcement officials in Michigan are investigating former U.S. Olympic gymnastics coach John Geddert after criminal complaints were filed against him.

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that police are investigating after people recently came forward with complaints against the coach, the Lansing State Journal reported

The investigation comes after a judge sentenced Larry Nassar, a former USA Gymnastics doctor, to an effective life prison sentence for child pornography and sexual abuse charges. More than 260 women have accused Nassar of sexual abuse.

Geddert is a longtime associate of Nassar, who once worked at Geddert’s elite Twistars Gymnastics Club in Michigan.

{mosads}Some of the women who came forward to accuse Nassar of sexual abuse in court also accused Geddert of physical abuse, with one alleging that the gymnastics coach was aware of Nassar’s abusive and inappropriate conduct.

Geddert has at least twice before been accused of physical assault — once by an employee at Twistars in 2011 and again in 2013 by a young gymnast, according to the State Journal. He was cleared of charges in both investigations.

Geddert announced last month that he planned to retire soon. Shortly after that announcement, however, he was suspended by USA Gymnastics.
