Man yelling ‘anti-Trump rhetoric’ opens fire at Trump’s Miami golf resort
A man yelling “anti-President Trump rhetoric” was arrested early Friday morning after exchanging fire with police in the lobby of the Trump National Doral Miami resort.
The suspect, who police identified as Jonathan Oddi, was yelling about Trump when Miami-Dade and City of Doral police officers responded to the scene, a Miami-Dade Police spokesman said.
“We are not saying this is terrorism … We are not discounting anything at this point,” according to Juan Perez, director of Miami-Dade Police.
Oddi is in custody.

Police received a call about the man at 1:30 a.m. and encountered a man armed with a handgun who fired on officers from the lobby of the resort. He had draped an American flag over a counter after removing it from a flag pole on hotel grounds, police said.
He reportedly set off a fire alarm in order to draw law enforcement into the area.
“It appears that he was trying to engage our police officers [in] some type of ambush attack,” a police spokesman said at a briefing later in the morning. “This individual would have caused a lot of harm and he wasn’t able to do that.”
Police wounded the man and took him into custody. No officers were shot in the exchange of fire, but one officer was injured in the encounter and sustained “broken bones,” according to a spokesman.
