A teenager accused of carrying out a deadly mass shooting at a Texas high school made his first appearance in court on Friday evening, as he faces a capital murder charge.
Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, is accused of using a shotgun and a .38 revolver to attack Santa Fe High School on Friday, killing 10 people and injuring another 10. He is also charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.
During the brief court appearance, Pagourtzis stood, handcuffed, with his head bowed, as he had his Miranda rights read to him. He did not enter a plea on the charges.

Police also detained another student at the school as a person of interest in the case, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said at a news conference on Friday that law enforcement planned to interview another person who they believed to have “certain information” about the attack.
Abbott said that Pagourtzis got the guns he allegedly used to carry out the shooting from his father, who owned them legally.
The Santa Fe Independent School District said on Friday that authorities had located explosive devices both at the high school and off campus, though there were no reports of explosions.
