Michelle Wolf in July Fourth salute: ‘God bless abortions and God bless America’

Netflix "The Break with Michelle Wolf"

Comedian Michelle Wolf on her Sunday show led a “salute to abortions” that culminated in her cheering, “God bless abortions and God bless America!”

At the end of “The Break with Michelle Wolf,” her new Netflix show, Wolf dressed up in an American flag leotard and led the crowd in pro-abortion cheers backed by a band.

“Women, if you need an abortion, get one,” Wolf said. “If you want an abortion, get one.”

“Women, don’t forget, you have the power to give life and men will try to control that,” Wolf said at the end of the segment. “Don’t let them.”

The segment, which aired the week of July 4, was a reaction to the growing anxieties over the future of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the U.S.

Many on the left have expressed anxiety that President Trump’s conservative pick to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy will try to overturn the court case.

“Look, access to abortion is good and important,” Wolf said. “Some people say abortion is ‘killing a baby.’ It’s not. It’s stopping a baby from happening.”

“It’s like ‘Back to the Future’ and abortion is the DeLorean,” she said. “And everyone loves DeLoreans.”

She also referred to “pro-life” as a “propaganda term.”

“If these people were actually pro-life, they would be fighting hard for health care, child care, education, gun control, and protecting the environment,” she said.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who is a key vote in confirming Trump’s nominee, has said she would not support a justice who shows open hostility toward Roe v. Wade.

Wolf has attracted criticism for her remarks before, gaining national attention in April when she slammed Trump administration officials during the White House correspondents’ dinner for lying to the public.
