Meghan McCain took several swipes at President Trump during a fiery eulogy on Saturday honoring her father, the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

“America does not boast because she does not have need to. The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again, because America was always great,” McCain said to applause at Washington National Cathedral.

“The America of John McCain is the America of the boys who rushed the colors in every war across three centuries knowing that in them is the life of the republic,” she said during the emotional address.

“John McCain was defined by love,” she said, speaking to his role as a father, husband, military servant and longtime U.S. senator.

{mosads}”Love defined my father,” she said. “I miss him so badly.”

“Dad, I love you. I always have.”

McCain, the co-host of ABC’s “The View,” spoke as a smattering of lawmakers and public figures gathered at the funeral service Saturday, including Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner.

Trump himself was not invited to John McCain’s funeral service. The president and Arizona senator had a fraught relationship, with Trump saying of McCain during the 2016 presidential race, “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Meghan McCain recognized her father by telling attendees Saturday that “we gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness.”

“The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege,” she added.
