The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been evacuated and closed to visitors after someone tried to climb the monument.
The official Twitter account for the tower wrote on Monday that the structure was “closed until further notice.”

A video posted on YouTube appears to show a person climbing up the structure.
The tower’s media office said the individual, who hasn’t been identified, apparently tried to scale the tourist icon on Monday afternoon, and firefighters and a climbing specialist were in touch with the climber, The Associated Press reported.
It’s not immediately clear what the climber’s motive was or when the tower will reopen.
Other users have posted pictures of what appears to be the individual climbing up the monument.
