NBA commissioner, other league execs to take 20 percent pay cut: report
The NBA will reportedly cut the salaries of top executives and commissioners by 20 percent to deal with the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass would not confirm the pay cuts, but told an ESPN reporter: “These are unprecedented times and, like other companies across all industries, we need to take short-term steps to deal with the harsh economic impact on our business and organization.”
This salary reduction includes commissioner Adam Silver and deputy commissioner Mark Tatum, sources said. There are no widespread cuts to the rest of organization; no support or administrative staff are impacted. Top executives and senior leaders are first to takes these cuts now

One hundred top executives, including commissioner Adam Silver and deputy commissioner Mark Tatum, will allegedly receive the 20 percent pay cut. The cuts will not alter the salaries of any support or administrative staff in the organization, only affecting top executives and commissioners at this time, according to the report.
The news comes as the league indefinitely postponed its season following Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert testing positive for the COVID-19 earlier this month.
The next struggle for the NBA will be how player salaries are handled during the coronavirus pandemic. The next pay period for players is April 15, and the league has confirmed it will address the issue before that date, ESPN reported.
