READ: Supreme Court justices offer tributes to Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Fellow justices on the Supreme Court lauded their late colleague Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a series of statements released after her death on Friday.

Chief Justice John Roberts praised Ginsburg as “a tireless and resolute champion of justice,” while other judges shared memories of Ginsburg and offered tributes to the longtime liberal justice.

“The most difficult part of a long tenure is watching colleagues decline and pass away. And, the passing of my dear colleague, Ruth, is profoundly difficult and so very sad,” Justice Clarence Thomas, who hails from the court’s conservative wing, said in a statement.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor noted that Ginsburg, who was just the second woman nominated to the court when she was confirmed in 1993, “left a legacy few could rival.”
