Steelers-Ravens game postponed again to Wednesday: reports

An NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens that had originally been scheduled for Thanksgiving Day was postponed for the third time to Wednesday, according to multiple news reports from Monday evening.

The game was pushed back another day from Tuesday, sources told ESPN, CBS and USA Today. ESPN first reported the delay of the Week 12 game, which makes it the first this season to be postponed three times amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Steelers-Ravens game, originally set for Thursday, was initially postponed to Sunday due to a COVID-19 outbreak among the Baltimore team, before again being delayed to Tuesday.

The Ravens had experienced nine consecutive days of at least one player testing positive for the virus, with 22 players testing positive or being identified as a high-risk close contact in that time period, according to ESPN. Currently, the Baltimore team has 35 players on its 53-person roster.

Monday’s tests added one COVID-19 positive player to the list, although the player is on injured reserve and hasn’t had close contact with others, ESPN reported.

Baltimore added four players — tight end Mark Andrews, outside linebacker Matthew Judon, wide receiver Willie Snead IV and cornerback Terrell Bonds — to the COVID-19 reserve list Monday.

The team removed another four players from the list, including linebacker Jaylon Ferguson, guard D.J. Fluker, cornerback Iman Marshall and defensive tackle Broderick Washington.

The maneuvering of the game has led to other switch-ups in the schedule as the Week 13 Steelers-Washington Football Team game has moved from Sunday to Monday, according to USA Today. The Ravens-Dallas Cowboys game was also rescheduled from Thursday to Monday.

The NFL previously postponed one other game twice this season with October’s Denver Broncos and New England Patriots match-up.
