Stacey Abrams gets kudos for work in Georgia runoff election

Stacey Abrams has garnered praise across the internet for her efforts to mobilize voters and secure a win for Democrats in the Senate on Tuesday.

Rev. Raphael Warnock on Wednesday morning was projected to have defeated Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) in the hotly contested Senate runoff in Georgia, bringing the Democrats within reach of the majority in the Upper Chamber.

Various lawmakers and celebrities shared their kudos for Abrams on Twitter.

“You get what you organize for. The brilliant @staceyabrams knew that and we are all grateful for it,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) wrote.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) also thanked Abrams in a tweet, stating that Congress must now get to work on providing the American people with stimulus checks and student loan forgiveness.

“Thank you activists & grassroots orgs. Thank you @staceyabrams! Now we must deliver. $15 wage, Medicare expansion, $2000 monthly checks, student loan forgiveness, free college, real start on GND, end to Afghan & Yemen war, $2 trillion infrastructure, tax millionaires on cap gains,” he wrote.

Soccer player Megan Rapinoe lauded Abrams, stating that she “saved America.”

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle also weighed in on Abrams’s efforts, calling her “one of the most consequential Americans in US History.”

Mary Trump, President Trump’s niece, thanked Abrams as well.

Abrams, through her initiative Fair Fight, helped to register Georgians to vote and mobilized record numbers of minorities and young people to cast their ballot in Tuesday’s runoff elections.

On Monday, Abrams told television personality Steven Colbert that she expected a win for Democrats on Tuesday.

“I put my money on blue,” she said at the time.
