Boeing 777 makes emergency landing in Moscow

A Boeing 777 cargo plane operated by Rossiya Airlines made an emergency landing on Friday at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport after an issue was discovered with the aircraft’s engine control sensor, according to Reuters.

Rossiya Airlines Flight 4520 was traveling from Hong Kong to Madrid early on Friday morning when the crew requested in land in Moscow, the news outlet noted.

The plane, The New York Times reported, was a cargo flight and carried 25 people and 36 metric tons of cargo.

“The landing took place normally,” Rossiya said in a statement to Reuters. The airlines also stated that the flight was scheduled to continue on to Madrid later Friday morning.

This is the second recent instance of problems with a Boeing 777.

Over the weekend, a Boeing 777 left debris falling in the Denver area after an engine failure. Separately, a Boeing 747 cargo plane had an engine problem while flying over the Netherlands last week.

The plane making the emergency landing in Russia had a General Electric engine, while the other two planes had engines developed by Pratt & Whitney.
