Sasse rejected proposals from Heritage: report

The conservative Heritage Foundation has reportedly reached out to Republican Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) as it looks for a new president, but the lawmaker has rejected the organization’s propositions.

Politico on Tuesday reported that Sasse has rejected the proposals, citing “two sources familiar with the recruitment effort.”

The recruitment for a new president to lead the think tank comes after Heritage in May announced the resignation of President Jim DeMint.

A spokesman for Sasse told the news outlet that the Nebraska lawmaker does not have any plans to depart Congress.

“If you ask me if he’ll consider an offer to be the Huskers’ offensive coordinator, I’ll dodge. But the answer to these Heritage rumors is simple: Nope,” James Weggman told Politico.

Heritage said the group is looking at more than 200 individuals as it searches for a new president, according to the report.
