Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) on Thursday will testify as character witnesses for Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) in his federal corruption trial.
Graham will appear in Newark, N.J., where the trial is being held in a federal district court, his office said in a statement. CNN reported that Booker will also testify at the trial.

“Graham is testifying as a character witness for the defense and traveled to the trial at his own personal expense,” Graham’s office said.
“He will testify about his service with Senator Menendez in the Senate. Graham’s testimony is unrelated to the underlying charges.”
The lawmakers’ impending testimonies for their colleague come as Menendez endures an ongoing trial, in which he has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he accepted campaign donations and free trips from his co-defendant in exchange for political favors.
