Warren: Trump is a ‘racist bully’

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) blasted President Trump on Monday as a “racist bully” during an annual breakfast honoring Martin Luther King Jr. in Boston.

“We face the challenge of an openly racist president of the United States,” Warren said, according to Boston Magazine. “Donald Trump is a racist bully, and we know how to deal with bullies. We don’t back down. We don’t shut up. We fight back.”

“When a racist bully talks about people who march with white supremacists and Nazis as ‘very fine people,’ when he refers to ‘shithole’ countries in Africa, and when he uses that hateful rhetoric to push discrimination in America, you better believe: We will fight back!” she continued.

Warren has been a fierce critic of Trump. She has called Trump a racist before, labeling him a “thin-skinned, racist bully” during the 2016 campaign.

The president started calling Warren “Pocahontas” during his presidential campaign over her claim of Native American heritage, and recently referred to her by the name during a White House event honoring Native American veterans.

Trump has faced intense criticism for describing Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as “shithole countries” during an Oval Office meeting on immigration last week.

He has since disputed making the comments, although the White House did not initially deny the reports.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who attended the meeting, confirmed to reporters that Trump made the comments.

However, GOP Sens. David Perdue (Ga.) and Tom Cotton (Ark.), who also attended the meeting, have said that Trump didn’t make the comment, after initially saying they didn’t recall if the president had done so.
