Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) offered her support Wednesday for students and teachers taking part in school walkouts across the country.

“By raising your voices to say enough is enough, you’re changing the conversation about gun violence. Keep speaking truth to power and demanding change. We’re standing with you,” Gillibrand tweeted.

Students in schools across the country are taking part Wednesday in the National School Walkout to protest gun violence and rally for change. Some students are also protesting in front of the White House.

The walkouts come one month after a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., killing 17 people.

Since the shooting, students have led the charge against gun violence, demanding that lawmakers pass new gun laws to keep their schools safe.

A march has also been planned for later this month in Washington, D.C., to protest gun violence.
