Senate Dems rip Trump on 500th day of presidency

Senate Democrats on Tuesday slammed President Trump, saying he has “failed” Americans 500 days into his tenure.

Democrats from the upper chamber mocked an earlier message from the White House, in which the Trump administration touted “500 days of American greatness.”

“In his first 500 days in office, President Donald J. Trump has failed to deliver on key promises to the American people,” the Democratic senators wrote in an email in which they adjusted the subject line with “We Made Some Edits.”

{mosads}“Since taking office, President Trump has increased costs for American families, signed a tax bill that fails to deliver for working Americans, and created a culture of corruption that permeates throughout his administration,” the email reads.

The Democrats pointed to high gas prices, the Republican tax overhaul and various ethical controversies facing Trump Cabinet officials, including those plaguing Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Trump in an early morning tweet said that “many believe” he has accomplished more in the first 500 days of his tenure than any of his predecessors.

About an hour later, the White House blasted out an email touting Trump’s “500 Days of American Greatness.”

“In his first 500 days in office President Donald J. Trump has achieved results domestically and internationally for the American people,” the White House email said.

“Since taking office, President Trump has strengthened American leadership, security, prosperity, and accountability.”
