Romney to host PAC fundraiser: report

Sen.-elect Mitt Romney (R-Utah) is set to host a fundraiser for his Believe in America PAC Tuesday, according to Politico

The fundraising event for his new PAC will reportedly take place in Washington D.C. in the evening.

Romney, who was previously the governor of Massachusetts and ran for president in 2012, will become one of the most high-profile Republicans in Congress. He is expected to be one of the most prominent counterweights to President Trump in the Senate after Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) retire at the end of the term.

{mosads}In that role, he is expected to use his fundraising network to aid new Republican candidates. For his Senate race, in which he was hardly challenged, Romney raised just over $5 million.

The event will reportedly ask attendees to pay $5,000 attend.

Michael McCollum Adams and Lauren Hamel, both of whom served as top fundraisers for outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan, are organizing the event, according to Politico.
