Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday accused House Democrats of launching an impeachment inquiry against President Trump over “a nothing (non-quid pro quo) burger” after the White House released a partial transcript of Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president.
Graham took to Twitter, asking “Impeachment over this?” shortly after the Trump administration released a memorandum on the July 25 phone call.
{mosads}The memorandum of the call confirmed reports that Trump asked for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to “look into” former Vice President Joe Biden and his participation in the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor.
Trump’s request to Zelensky came a few days after his direction to withhold military aid from the country, and Trump critics including George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, were quick to point to that as an exchange of favors.
The call was the subject of an intelligence community whistleblower complaint requested by Congress that the Trump administration has thus far refused to hand over.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday moved to begin a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump after months of resisting calls from members of her caucus to begin efforts to remove the president.
