Klobuchar cancer-free again after procedure
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said she is cancer-free Friday after undergoing a minimally invasive procedure to remove a small calcification doctors found as part of a routine breast cancer screening.
Klobuchar, a member of Senate Democratic leadership, was diagnosed with Stage 1A breast cancer in early 2021. Six months later, she said that “everything was clear” at her six-month exam and owed her recent positive diagnosis to consistent checkups.
“Thanks to early detection and diligent follow-up visits, my doctor says I am now cancer-free,” she said in a statement.
The Minnesota Democrat added that she will undergo a couple days of radiation as a precaution.
“I want to again encourage every Minnesotan and every American to get their routine screenings, exams, and follow-ups. It made a huge difference for me, and I know it can make a huge difference for so many others,” she added.
