Boston protestors block traffic bridge while calling for Warren to back Israel-Hamas cease-fire

Demonstrators seeking a cease-fire in Israel’s war with Hamas blocked traffic Thursday morning on the Boston University bridge connecting Cambridge to Boston.

The protestors were calling in part for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) to support their calls for a cease-fire, according to The Associated Press.

In a post Thursday morning on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Massachusetts State Police (MSP) said their officers, along with those with the Boston and Cambridge police departments, deployed to the bridge.

Hours later, MSP shared that the demonstrators have left the scene, allowing traffic to resume. 

“FINAL UPDATE-The protestors have left the BU Bridge,” MSP said in its X post. “The bridge is open to traffic.” 

The Associated Press reported that demonstrators, who were chanting “Cease-fire now!” throughout their protest, were calling for Warren to support a cease-fire and use her platform to urge Israeli’s government to stop its military action in the Gaza Strip. 

The protest was organized by IfNotNow, a group that represents the Jewish community in the Boston area.
