School awards honorary diploma to student killed in Colorado school shooting
STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado on Monday awarded an honorary degree to the senior killed in a shooting at the Denver-area school earlier this month.
Kendrick Castillo was awarded the first diploma of the night to a standing ovation, according to a local Fox affiliate.
The diploma was accepted on behalf of Castillo’s family by his best friend, Jordan Monk.

The shooting came during the last week of classes for Castillo and his fellow seniors.
Reports surfaced soon after that Castillo, along with two other students, charged at one of the shooters in a classroom.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) declared last Wednesday Kendrick Castillo Day to honor the 18-year-old student.
