No active shooter at Malmstrom Air Force Base after lockdown

Leadership at the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana confirmed there was no active shooter after a lockdown Thursday.

The base went into lockdown at about 10:30 a.m. local time and people were advised to leave the area on reports of a shooter. No details were provided on the possible threat.

The lockdown was lifted about two hours later after security personnel cleared the area.

“A suspicious person was reported on base as an active shooter. There were no confirmed shots fired and there are no casualties or injuries reported,” the base said in a Facebook post.

“There is no threat to the public at this time. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.”
